Book in some creative time each month with our Art after dark experience at Redcliffe Art Gallery.

Enjoy good company while you learn varied art-making techniques from local artist and teacher Dr Deb Eddy. Deb is a supportive and informative instructor, and all skill levels are welcome.

Each month will focus on a theme or a medium from our current exhibitions. Let our exhibiting artists inspire you while you hone your creative skills and connect with your community.

Bring a friend or make some new ones.

All art materials will be provided.

Friday 2 October | Face value assemblage workshop with Miguel Aquilizan

Join exhibiting artist Miguel Aquilizan in this guided assemblage workshop exploring self. Participants will use personal and recycled materials inspired by Miguel’s artwork currently on display in 15 Artists 2026.

Miguel will share his creative process of foraging and assemblage along with guided techniques for binding, embellishment and material play.

Participants are encouraged to bring along personal objects to form their artwork, supplemented with recycled materials supplied by the gallery. The final form will take place on a template provided by the artist.

Miguel Aquilizan is a Philippine-born artist now living and working between Meanjin/Brisbane and Los Baños, Philippines. He is a member of the family art collective Fruit Juice Factori, 2025 Ramsay Art Prize Finalist and 2025 Still: National Still Life Award Finalist.

Friday 6 November | Miniature portraiture

We all take selfies and pictures of friends and loved ones on our phones.

In this session, Dr Deb Eddy will guide participants back to a time before cameras and paint a miniature portrait. Paint a portrait of yourself or someone special in this relaxed after dark session at the gallery.

Mini canvases, paint and brushes will be provided. Participants should bring a photograph of their chosen person to work from.

About the facilitator

Dr Deborah Eddy offers experienced and beginner artists an inclusive, relaxing, and friendly workshop experience.

She follows the ‘there is no right or wrong in art’ school of thought, which ensures that participants never feel they are not good enough.

Deborah has a Doctorate in Visual Art and brings her depth of knowledge and her own art practice to the lessons she gives. This makes for a rich experience for participants who will learn a little art history, and perhaps something about new techniques and materials.
