Friday 8 August: Relief printing

We will explore the art of relief printing while considering the Spirits in the Ink exhibition,

This workshop will see you design and print an image you have devised.

The joy of seeing a print pulled from the ink for the first time is palpable and addictive. You will leave the workshop with a series of prints you will be proud of.

Please note this is a messy workshop.

Friday 5 September: Fabric stamp making

In this workshop you will design and carve your own stamps which can be used to print onto fabric.

Draw inspiration from the printed works in Spirits in the Ink as well as the concept of adornment in Living Archive: Blak Resistance and Joy.

You’ll get to take home both your printed fabric and your stamps.

Friday 10 October: Portrait of a home

Using your imagination or memory you will draw and paint a house that you have either lived in or would like to live in.

Perhaps it is a quirky house you go past that sparks your imagination or a portrait of your own house.

We will explore a naive painting style to produce your house portrait. Please note this is a messy workshop.

Friday 7 November:  Soft sculpture Christmas decorations

A textile workshop with a Christmas spirit.

You will make soft sculpture decorations to hang on your Christmas tree or to gift to a friend or relative.

Patterns will be provided, or you can design your own.

About the facilitator

Dr Deborah Eddy offers experienced and beginner artists an inclusive, relaxing, and friendly workshop experience.

She follows the ‘there is no right or wrong in art’ school of thought, which ensures that participants never feel they are not good enough.

Deborah has a Doctorate in Visual Art and brings her depth of knowledge and her own art practice to the lessons she gives. This makes for a rich experience for participants who will learn a little art history, and perhaps something about new techniques and materials.
