The 80s were a decade of bright fashion, major events and stunning growth for the sunshine state. Major events like the Commonwealth Games and Expo 88 highlighted the atmosphere of a city on the rise. The growth of the city throughout this decade saw major changes to the Queensland image both in Australia and across the globe.

For the Moreton Bay Region, the 80s saw the doubling of its population, reaching 205,000 people by the end of the decade. The expansion of existing suburban centres, and conversion of industrial and agricultural land into new suburbs, started creating the communities of today.

The 80s will explore the dynamic relationship between Brisbane and the Moreton Bay Region, exploring individual and community memories of this fluro decade.
