A selection of Australia’s finest bush poets were invited by Caboolture Regional Art Gallery to pen original poems in response to ‘Robert MacPherson: Boss Drovers’. The resulting poems by Mal Beveridge, Kay Gorring, Mick Martin and Noel Stallard OAM are entertaining, humorous and heartfelt.

Kay has won many awards including overall winner of the Ipswich International Writing Competition and the Tim Borthwick Memorial prize for best new talent in the 2019 Bronze Swagman Competition Winton.
'Droving' - an original poem by Mick Martin in response to 'Robert MacPherson: Boss Drovers'. Mick has been a camp cook/entertainer, a bush poet performer in tourist parks from Carnarvon to Cunnamulla, a shearers roustabout, full time rescue fire fighter, business owner and advocate for struggling farmers.
'A Portrait of Drovers' by Noel Stallard in response to 'Robert MacPherson: Boss Drovers'. Noel is Gympie born and bred. His latest book, Aussie Verse – Noel Stallard, won the 2012 Book of the Year for the Australian Bush Laureate Awards. On Australia Day 2019 Noel was awarded the OAM for service to literature.
'Yellow Leaf Falling' - a poem in two parts by Mal Beveridge in response to 'Robert MacPherson: Boss Drovers'. Mal has been a finalist at Bundaberg, Tenterfield, Tamworth and Narrandera performance competitions and has won quite a few ‘One Minute Poem’ awards over the years with his wicked sense of humour.
