Yield: Creative space
Connect deeper to Yield with our Creative Space activities.
During the exhibition, our engagement spaces will change and respond to important themes that the artworks introduce.
Immerse yourself in activies and creative installations designed by artists to grow your understanding and connect to the local environment.
The Art Investigator also makes its return - where you can scour the exhibition and find artworks in our kids’ art trail. Discover them all to receive a sticker prize. Can you collect them all?
20 September - 29 November: Tracing the edges
Have you ever stood on Country and reflected on all this place has seen, what is to come, and how you are part of it all?
Time is layered and interconnected all at once. This is how we trace our own story and decide what mark we want to make while we are here.
In Tracing the edges Creative Space, artists Lexie Abel (Wiradjuri) and Libby Harward (Quandamooka) ask us to consider the Country we walk on. You can learn about native flora and fauna found on Kabi Kabi and Jinibara Country.
Visitors are invited to take time to be playful and experiment with layering and tracing to create their very own artworks.
Free - no bookings required.
20 September - 29 November: Stories from Country - screening room
Take time to sit, listen and learn about traditional practices and culture in this series of short films with Lyndon Davies.
These films are from the Local Aboriginal Languages Project which was a community collaboration between City of Moreton Bay, the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi traditional custodians and community. It was made possible by Strategic Priorities grant funding from the Queensland Government and the State Library of Queensland.
Free. No bookings required.
5 December 2025 - 24 January 2026: The Greenhouse
Come into The Greenhouse and make a creative contribution to the space inspired by seeds, the tiny vessels that house the genetic make-up of a plant, and our foods.
The Greenhouse is inspired by the patterns of agriculture and designed by Yield artist Elizabeth Willing. She has drawn on agricultural ecosystems from above and below ground to transform the space into ornamental prints, textiles, and sculptural elements.
5 December 2025 - 24 January 2026: Strawberry patch
Create a strawberry using paper and make it unique with decorations in this hands-on activity. Add your strawberry to the community wall or take your creation home with you.
Did you know that Moreton Bay is the largest strawberry producing area in Australia, producing 76% of Queensland’s strawberries? Learn fun facts about the process of cultivating and distributing strawberries as you craft your own.
Let’s slow down and celebrate the strawberry!
31 January - 14 March 2026: To perceive is to yield
In To perceive is to yield, artist Fernando do Campo invites us to look, listen, smell, taste and touch our environment. This allows us to map, walk, draw, and write the way we each encounter the world around us.
Do you sometimes hear a bird, smell a bat, pick a flower, or see a tree while driving down the highway? It can make you think of a friend, a loved one, a previous home or other histories in your life.
Plants and animals have the capacity to affect us in ways that surprise us, they can transport us to other times and locations, and reveal new stories. As humans we exist within a networks of multispecies relations!
During your visit, reflect on your ‘multispecies homes’ through drawing. You can contribute to a giant world map of animal and plant relations, and write letters to your favourite companions.
