Like yesterday: Creative space

Next date: Thursday, 02 April 2026 | 07:00 AM to Saturday, 13 June 2026 | 04:00 PM

Collage of beach photos including seagulls

Be inspired by themes of the beach, nostalgia, and the passage of time found in exhibition Like yesterday.

Reimagine special memories in our new Creative spaces – Greetings from… and Into the deep

Through prompts and activities developed by Kooma and Nguri poet- in-residence, Cheryl Leavy, be guided through steps to write your own poem.

You can also create a postcard inspired by your personal relationship to the beach. See if you can recognise any beaches in the City of Moreton Bay as you cut and layer photographs old and new, to form your own beach scene.

Let’s make memories together - add your finished postcard poems to the display in the gallery.

Throughout the exhibition, Cheryl will read everyone’s poems and use them to create a growing community poem that will be displayed in the space.

The Art Investigator also makes its return. Scour the exhibition and find artworks in our kids’ art trail. Discover them all to receive a sticker prize.

Be sure to also book into the poetry workshops by Cheryl Leavy happening during the exhibition and uncover a love of poetry.
