Saturday 21 March | Wild woven forms with Emily McGuire
In We hunt mammoth, through careful dismantling and weaving, artists Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro transform a Honda car into something newly imagined.
Weave a landscape from cloth and found treasures in this playful workshop led by local award-winning artist Emily McGuire.
Using second-hand fabrics, beads, buttons and gems, you'll explore simple weaving and knotting techniques inspired by We hunt mammoth.
No experience is needed - just curiosity! You'll leave with a small woven world of your own to take home. All materials are provided.
Saturday 18 April | Assembling the absurd
In We hunt mammoth, artists Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro invite us to consider the absurd, through their methodical dissection of a Honda car, presenting it to the viewer in a strange and uneasy manner.
In this workshop, learn the art of assemblage - a way of sculpting with unrelated, found, or discarded objects in bizarre or nonsensical ways. The outcome? A distorted reality ready to challenge your perception and see objects in a new light.
Saturday 16 May | Fauxidermy
Through the lens of extinct or endangered species, this participatory workshop invites visitors to design and create a unique, faux taxidermy plaques.
Using whacky and wonderful materials, such as soft plushies, forgotten toys, and animal figurines, this session connects visitors to We Hunt Mammoth’s themes — from ancient megafauna to contemporary conservation concerns.
We invite visitors to reflect on the long arc of human and animal relationships.
Saturday 20 June | Best in Show with Shan Michaels
Be inspired by the spirit of celebration at the Moreton Bay Art Prize 2026 in this hands‑on creative workshop.
Join textile artist Shan Michaels to design and make your own soft fabric rosette or ribbon using vibrant, colourful materials.
Participants will be invited to choose something personal, heartfelt, or humorous to celebrate through their creation.
This workshop offers a joyful space to celebrate ourselves and each other, fostering community connection through shared making.
Shan Michaels is a textile artist whose practice spans themes connected to queer history and women’s history, with a strong focus on identity, inclusion, accessibility and sustainability.
Saturday July 4: Lino printmaking with Dr Deborah Eddy
Join Dr Deborah Eddy for a morning of hands-on linocut printmaking.
You'll learn the skills to create your own hand printed works on paper, including transferring your image to a lino block, carving your image, inking the block and hand printing.
Dr Eddy offers experienced and beginner artists an inclusive, relaxing, and friendly workshop experience where there is no right or wrong in art. This ensures that participants never feel they are not good enough.
She has a Doctorate in Visual Art and brings her depth of knowledge and her own art practice to the lessons she gives. This makes for a rich experience for participants who will learn a little art history, and perhaps something about new techniques and materials.
