Moreton Bay Regional Council is creating a thriving new precinct
that will generate thousands of local higher education and
employment opportunities for the region.
With the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) campus at its
core, the precinct aspires to offer world-class study opportunities
to residents in the Moreton Bay Region.
USC's new Petrie campus is on track for completion in 2020,
supported by additional work, study and community
The onsite train station will connect local residents from right
along the Moreton Bay Rail Link, and the Caboolture Line to the new
Petrie campus. Regular bus services and car parking infrastructure
will also be a key feature to the precinct to bring residents and
business people from all over the region, reducing north and south
The former Petrie Paper Mill site is the location of a major new university campus for the Moreton Bay Region.
Not only does the surrounding established population provide a readily accessible market, but the site is also strategically located in close proximity to key transport infrastructure including the Petrie railway station (at the junction of the existing Caboolture Rail Line and the soon-to-be-opened Moreton Bay Rail Link), Gympie Road and the Bruce Highway.
The location provides students in the region with an alternative higher-education option that does not require travelling outside of the region.
The site is located approximately 20km from Brisbane International Airport and approximately 22km from the Brisbane CBD.
The Moreton Bay Region University Precinct will form part of the first stage of the development of the site and plays a key role in the overall project. The high levels of environmental amenity and native wildlife on the site have the potential to create a campus that merges with nature. The image to the right is an aerial photo of the site illustrating the proximity to key transport infrastructure and levels of environmental amenity.
