Kate is an emerging artist who lives and works in Lawnton. After being trained in floristry and enjoying many years developing creative floral arrangements, Kate began creating artworks from natural materials.
Her current body of work explores the relationship between nature and humans, and the re-birth of life, after decay has seemingly brought it to an end.
Kate is driven by a love of nature and a desire to recycle plant material that would otherwise be thrown away. Beginning with palm fronds, Kate has developed a process that transforms natures waste into artworks and items for use in our daily lives. The palm fronds are treated, softened, shaped, stitched, painted and sculptured into artworks as diverse as wall hangings, bags and bowls.
