Volunteers form an important part of Museum Operations and the the visitor experience: actively involving the community in the vision of the Bribie Island Seaside Museum. In turn, volunteers share their skills, knowledge and experience, take up new opportunities and develop new skills, networks and friendships.
The Museum seeks committed people who wish to serve in customer service, retail and tour guiding roles from Thursday to Sunday. Induction and training is provided for all roles.
Areas of volunteer work
- Front Desk and Shop Sales team (visitor welcome & customer service)
Front desk duties, museum shop sales and merchandise maintenance/ stock preparation, phone inquiries and visitor orientation
- Events Team
Organise, set up and run events
- Exhibition Installation Team
Unpack, install, hang artworks, place works in frames and display cases, place signage and assist the curator to present exhibitions
- Tour Guides
Prepare tour notes, welcome groups, take groups on various tours, oversee activities, guide and instruct visiting school groups
