Council are undertaking urgent road and drainage works along Mount Samson Road, Samsonvale. The nature of these works has resulted in Mount Samson Road being closed to all vehicular traffic with detours in place (refer traffic conditions/impacts).
The scope of works will include:
- Bulk earthworks
- Stormwater drainage installation
- Gravel pavement construction
- Asphalt surfacing
Construction works will commence Monday 29 October 2018, works are expected to be complete by 14 December 2018, weather permitting. Current traffic detours will remain in place while these works are undertaken.
Updates on this project will be provided each Monday and Thursday for the duration of these works.
Update #5 - 15 November 2018
Construction works remain on schedule for Mount Samson Road. Construction of reinforced concrete headwalls commenced Wednesday (14/11) and are expected to be complete by weeks end. Backfilling of the site continues with reinstatement of the gravel road pavement and guardrails scheduled to be undertaken late next week.

Update #4 - 12 November 2018
Construction works on Mount Samson Road are continuing to be on schedule for completion early to mid-December. Installation of the new drainage infrastructure has been completed. Major earthworks will commence this week to backfill the excavation and restore the road pavement.
Preparation for the construction of reinforced concrete headwalls are scheduled to commence later in the week.

Update #3 - 8 November 2018
Construction works on Mount Samson Road are on track for completion early to mid-December as planned. The collapsed pipe has been successfully removed from the excavation site and installation of the new drainage infrastructure has commenced, these works will continue into next week.
Placement of additional signage regarding the detour for Kriesch Road and Hipathites Road has been installed today.

Update #2 - 5 November 2018
Construction works on Mount Samson Road are progressing as planned. The failed section of road continues to be excavated in preparation for the installation of new drainage infrastructure. Removal of the collapsed drainage pipe commenced today, with installation of the new pipes and backfilling programmed for later this week.
Placement of additional signage regarding the current detours has been arranged and will be installed as soon as possible.

Update #1 - 1 November 2018
Works commenced on Mount Samson Road as planned. Initial clearing and excavation of failed section of road commenced this week, further earthworks of the site will continue into next week as the area is prepared for the installation of new drainage infrastructure.
Inspection of detour routes are undertaken daily to ensure safe travel for road users. Additional lighting has been placed at the closure points on Mount Samson Road to alert road users of the closure location.

Currently Mount Samson Road is closed to all traffic from Kriesch Road to Hipathites Road. Vehicle access has been provided to residents of the closed section of road.
Traffic management controls are in place for this closure. Variable message boards have been established in relevant areas to advise drivers and effectively manage traffic flow to this area.
Detours are in place for traffic travelling in both directions between Samford and Dayboro.
Detour Route 1 - Kriesch Road -
Hipathites Road, Samsonvale (load Limit less than 30t
- This route is load limited to vehicles with a GVM less than 30 tonne (school buses are exempt from this restriction). Heavy vehicles seek alternate route, refer Route 2 & 3.
- Speed limits have been reduced along Kriesch and Hipathites Roads while the detour is in place.

Detour Route 2 - Winn Road to Youngs Crossing Road (Heavy Vehicles greater than 30 tonne GVM)
- Heavy vehicles can travel between Samford and Dayboro via Winn Road, Samsonvale Road and Youngs Crossing Road.
- No load restrictions apply to this route.
Detour Route 3 - Eatons Crossing Road to Youngs Crossing Road (Heavy Vehicles greater than 30 tonne GVM)
- Heavy vehicles can travel between Samford and Dayboro via Eatons Crossing Road, Lilley Road, Ira Buckby Road and Youngs Crossing Road.
- No load restrictions apply to this route.
