Council has awarded a $5.4 million tender to refurbish the Caboolture Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre (CRALC) at Burpengary.
This major project will include:
- The replacement of vital plant infrastructure such as air ventilation systems;
- New ceilings and lighting;
- Security and fire systems; and
- Maintenance work to the building structure and pool shells.
This will mark the first major refurbishment of swimming facilities at CRALC, which have been well-utilised and are at the end of their lifespan.
Works have now commenced, taking place throughout the winter season when patronage is traditionally lower, and are expected to be complete early 2019, weather permitting.
During this time the centre’s gym and tennis court will remain open, however the pools will be closed to allow crews to install new equipment and undertake maintenance to the 25m and 50m pool shells.
Council staff and the centre’s operators have worked with the pools’ user groups on alternative arrangements so clubs and exercise groups can continue to operate throughout the year, and swimmers will be invited to make the most of other facilities in the region, including the Caboolture Pool.
