Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategy

Our bays, beaches and seaside spots have always been attractive places to live, work and visit. Moreton Bay Regional Council is seeking to better understand the dynamic environmental factors that may affect the lifestyle and amenity of these much-loved areas in the future.

Community Facilities

Construction of new SES Depot, Bunya

Council has awarded a $2 million tender to construct a new SES Depot in James Drysdale Reserve, Bunya. The project is designed to provide a purpose-built facility to accommodate growth in Arana Hills SES activities and better support local volunteers.

Redcliffe Art Gallery and Community Space

Council will deliver a major enhancement to Redcliffe’s cultural heart with the addition of a new art gallery and community space at the Redcliffe Administration Centre.

Albany Creek Library - Amenities Upgrade and Internal Refurbishment

Council has commenced works to reinvigorate the Albany Creek Library. The library will be given a new look and feel, that will provide the community with contemporary spaces that connect, inspire and engage.

Green Infrastructure

Dakabin Waste Management Facility - Offset Tree Planting

Council has planted 5 hectares of legally protected koala food and habitat trees and supporting understorey at the Dakabin Waste Management Facility on Old Gympie Road at Dakabin.

Luida Court Park - Offset Tree Planting

Council has planted 3.5 hectares of legally protected koala habitat trees and endangered lowland rainforest at Luida Court Park at Samford.

Scouts Crossing Road Reserve - Offset Tree Planting

Council and the state government have planted seven (7) hectares of legally protected koala food and habitat trees at Scouts Crossing Road Reserve at Brendale.

Walk to Schools Street Tree Planting Project

Council is planning to undertake street tree planting along pathways to Kallangur State School, Tullawong State School, Caboolture East State School and Moreton Downs State School.

Parks & open space

Blatchford Reserve Upgrade

Council is planning to upgrade the park facilities at Blatchford Reserve, this new facility is intended to provide adequate community facilities for the Murrumba Downs community.

The Hills District All Abilities Playground at Leslie Patrick Park

The Hills District All Abilities Playground at Leslie Patrick Park aims to provide residents of Moreton Bay Region an opportunity to engage in a space where children and adults of all abilities are welcome.

Sport & recreation

Caboolture Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre refurbishment

Council has awarded a $5.4 million tender to refurbish the Caboolture Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre (CRALC) at Burpengary. This will mark the first major refurbishment of swimming facilities at CRALC, which have been well-utilised and are at the end of their lifespan.

Morayfield Sport and Events Centre (MSEC) Upgrade

Council has awarded a $7.8 million tender to upgrade MSEC as part of a plan to attract major sporting events and trade shows to the popular indoor hub.

Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex - Soccer Stage 1

Construction underway for the Burpengary - Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex - Soccer Stage 1. Moreton Bay Regional Council has appointed a contractor to construct a new soccer precinct at the Burpengary - Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex.

Nathan Road Sport and Recreation Precinct

Moreton Bay Regional Council has commenced planning for a new sport and recreation precinct on Nathan Road, Rothwell. 16 hectares of council land in an existing reserve for sport and recreation has been identified on the eastern side of Nathan Road on the approach to the Redcliffe Aerodrome.

Proposed Outdoor Recreation Plan 2017-2036

Council is preparing an Outdoor Recreation Plan to guide the Region’s development of outdoor recreation over the next twenty years. The Proposed Outdoor Recreation Plan 2017-2036 will be a key policy document for the planning and provisioning of outdoor recreation and will help to balance the Region’s environmental values with access to natural areas for recreation purposes.

Bunya - James Drysdale Reserve - Baseball Field Construction

With bulk earthworks undertaken in late 2017, Council has commenced construction of a new carpark and access road at James Drysdale Reserve as part of an overall project to expand the Baseball facility.

South Pine Indoor Sporting Complex Extension and Upgrade

Council is designing an extension to the South Pine Indoor Sporting Complex and upgrading the Rugby Union Clubhouse, at the South Pine Sports Complex. The extension to the Indoor Sporting Complex will include three additional courts and support areas to provide increased playing space for indoor sports.

Transportation & Streetscapes

Aerodrome Road and Lear Jet Drive, Caboolture: Signalisation and road changes

In response to increasing congestion and a history of crashes at this intersection Council has investigated ways to improve the efficiency and safety of this intersection, and providing safe pedestrian crossing facilities.

Caboolture to Wamuran Rail Trail

The Caboolture to Wamuran Rail Trail will be a 10.5km long shared pathway extending from Beerburrum Road, Caboolture to Atwood Street, Wamuran. This is a unique project that follows the old Caboolture to Kilcoy railway corridor that closed in 1964.

Oakey Flat Road and Walkers Road, Morayfield - Intersection upgrade

The intersection of Oakey Flat Road and Walkers Road is experiencing increasing capacity problems due to traffic growth. As a result council has listed this intersection for a capital upgrade which is currently programmed to commence in the second half of 2018.

Walter Street Caboolture, Street Improvement

This project aims to create improvements that support road user safety and strengthen pedestrian and cycle connections to the Caboolture Train Station and neighbouring Health and Education precincts.

Brays Road and McClintock Drive - Intersections and Road Upgrade

Council is currently in the process of preparing concept design drawings for a major road and footpath upgrade of Brays Road and McClintock Drive, Murrumba Downs.

Kedron Creek Bridge

The Kedron Creek Bridge project involves the construction of a 26 metre long cycle and pedestrian bridge over Kedron Creek, to connect Wahminda Park to the Samford to Ferny Grove Rail Trail link, on Lanita Road.

Samsonvale Road, Bray Park (Elmwood Drive - Dundee Street) - Road Upgrade

Council is currently in the process of preparing concept design drawings for a road and footpath upgrade of Samsonvale Road, Bray Park between Elmwood Drive and Dundee Street.

Archer Street, Woodford Streetscape Upgrade

The streetscape improvement project will help to establish an attractive and functional streetscape that improves pedestrian safety, revitalises existing pathways, increases existing landscape amenity, and incorporates public artwork.

Landsborough Avenue, Scarborough Streetscape Upgrade

The streetscape improvement project will help to establish an attractive and functional streetscape that improves pedestrian safety, revitalises existing pathways, increases existing landscape amenity and incorporates public artwork and wayfinding signage.

Road Upgrade - Oakey Flat Road, Morayfield (Ashbrook Drive to Lakeview Drive)

The upgrade aims to improve road safety, cater for growing and future traffic demand and improve conditions for walking and cycling and public transport services.

Road Extension - Ardrossan Road, Caboolture

Council is planning to build a new road connection between the intersections of Ardrossan Road/Male Road and Cassowary Court/Elof Road, Caboolture.

Old North Road, Warner - Road Upgrade Stage 2

Council has awarded a $10m contract to undertake upgrade works to Old North Road between Kremzow Road and Everest Street, Warner.

Road Upgrade - Old Gympie Road, Kallangur (Viney Avenue to Highet Street)

Council is proposing to upgrade Old Gympie Road, Kallangur (from Viney Avenue to Highet Street).

Activation Master Plans

Activation Master Plans aim to encourage visitation, improve the amenity of public spaces and create active and vibrant places throughout the region by providing a mechanism to effectively manage the increasing requests from food truck and outdoor operators including face painters, dog groomers and equipment hire into the future.
