Moreton Bay Regional Council is creating a thriving new major precinct that will generate thousands of local higher education and employment opportunities for the region.
Coast & Waterways
The Queensland Government has made a commitment to assist eligible coastal councils in the preparation of a Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategy (CHAS) relevant to their specific coastal issues. The program is managed by the Local Government Association Queensland and is titled QCoast2100.
Council has awarded a $2 million tender to construct a new SES Depot in James Drysdale Reserve, Bunya. The project is designed to provide a purpose-built facility to accommodate growth in Arana Hills SES activities and better support local volunteers.
Council will deliver a major enhancement to Redcliffe’s cultural heart with the addition of a new art gallery and community space at the Redcliffe Administration Centre.
Council has planted 5 hectares of legally protected koala food and habitat trees and supporting understorey at the Dakabin Waste Management Facility on Old Gympie Road at Dakabin.

and Moreton Downs State School.
Parks & open space
Council recently updated the James Drysdale Reserve Master Plan to include minor changes to materials and finishes as well as the new Landfill gas generator facility.
Council is planning to upgrade the park facilities at Blatchford Reserve, this new facility is intended to provide adequate community facilities for the Murrumba Downs community.
Sport & recreation
Council has awarded a $5.4 million
tender to refurbish the Caboolture Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre (CRALC) at
Burpengary. This will mark the first major
refurbishment of swimming facilities at CRALC, which have been well-utilised and are at the end of

Construction underway for the Burpengary - Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex - Soccer Stage 1. Moreton Bay Regional Council has appointed a contractor to construct a new soccer precinct at the Burpengary - Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex.
Moreton Bay Regional Council has commenced planning for a new sport and recreation precinct on Nathan Road, Rothwell. 16 hectares of council land in an existing reserve for sport and recreation has been identified on the eastern side of Nathan Road on the approach to the Redcliffe Aerodrome.
Council is preparing an Outdoor Recreation Plan to guide the Region’s development of outdoor recreation over the next twenty years. The Proposed Outdoor Recreation Plan 2017-2036 will be a key policy document for the planning and provisioning of outdoor recreation and will help to balance the Region’s environmental values with access to natural areas for recreation purposes.
With bulk earthworks undertaken in late 2017, Council has commenced construction of a new carpark and access road at James Drysdale Reserve as part of an overall project to expand the Baseball facility.
Council is designing an extension to the South Pine Indoor Sporting Complex and upgrading the Rugby Union Clubhouse, at the South Pine Sports Complex. The extension to the Indoor Sporting Complex will include three additional courts and support areas to provide increased playing space for indoor sports.
Transportation & Streetscapes
In response to increasing congestion and a history of crashes at this intersection Council has investigated ways to improve the efficiency and safety of this intersection, and providing safe pedestrian crossing facilities.
The Caboolture to Wamuran Rail Trail will be a 10.5km long shared pathway extending from Beerburrum Road, Caboolture to Atwood Street, Wamuran. This is a unique project that follows the old Caboolture to Kilcoy railway corridor that closed in 1964.
The intersection of Oakey Flat Road and Walkers Road is experiencing increasing capacity problems due to traffic growth. As a result council has listed this intersection for a capital upgrade which is currently programmed to commence in the second half of 2018.
This project aims to create improvements that support road user safety and strengthen pedestrian and cycle connections to the Caboolture Train Station and neighbouring Health and Education precincts.
Council is currently in the process of preparing concept design drawings for a major road and footpath upgrade of Brays Road and McClintock Drive, Murrumba Downs.
The Kedron Creek Bridge project involves the construction of a 26 metre long cycle and pedestrian bridge over Kedron Creek, to connect Wahminda Park to the Samford to Ferny Grove Rail Trail link, on Lanita Road.
Council is currently in the process of preparing concept design drawings for a road and footpath upgrade of Samsonvale Road, Bray Park between Elmwood Drive and Dundee Street.
