Young adult readers want stories with an authentic voice that helps them make sense of their world.

But getting the voice right in young adult fiction can be one of the hardest things to do. Join young adult author Maree Kimberley as she guides you through the elements of uncovering your own YA storytelling voice.

About the author: Maree Kimberley is a writer from Brisbane. Inspired by the remote landscapes of Cape York and her fascination for neuroscience, Maree’s young adult novel Dirt Circus League was a 2022 Children’s Book Council Australia notable book, and was shortlisted in the 2021 Aurealis Awards for Best Young Adult Novel. Maree has a PhD from Queensland University of Technology for her creative-practice led examination of young adult fiction through a posthuman framework. Her work has also been published in several anthologies and journals, including The Year’s Best Australian Fantasy and Horror 2015 and Defying Doomsday.
