Keep the kids entertained and secure yourself some much-needed down time these school holidays with Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Active Holidays program which is jam-packed with high-energy activities for kids aged 3-17.
Bookings are now open for the Active Holidays program which runs from Monday 7 until Friday 18 January.
Kids can learn water sports like fishing, surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking and synchronised swimming.
For land-lubbers there’s abseiling, hockey, boxing, gymnastics, archery, trampolining, tennis, BMX racing and even a high ropes course.
If you have a budding MasterChef on your hands, sign them up to a foodie bliss-ball making session.
Council Spokesperson for Parks, Recreation and Sports, Councillor Koliana Winchester, said the Active Holiday program was a great win for parents with most sessions being free or only $5 per child.
“School holidays can be a stressful time for parents — avoid the dreaded ‘I’m bored’ moment and sign them up for a session,” Cr Winchester said.
“All activities are operated by qualified instructors in our great local parks and facilities across the region, so you can rest assured that your little ones are in safe hands.”
Council Spokesperson for Lifestyle and Amenity, Councillor Denise Sims, said there were more than 60 sessions on offer across the two weeks which would get kids moving.
“We all know how important it is for our children to lead an active lifestyle,” Cr Sims said.
“Encourage your kids to burn off some energy while you enjoy a moment of peace.”
