Community banners

Council has poles erected for not-for-profit community associations using their own banners to advertise events at no cost.

Community banner pole sites can only be used by community / non-profit organisations for the purpose of promoting community events and one-off sporting club activities within the region.

Organisations need to complete an application to erect a community banner form and return to Council for consideration at least 14 days prior to requested advertising date.

Erection of community banners

Until further notice Council is erecting and pulling down all banners at community banner pole sites. Banners can be dropped off and collected at one of Council's Administration Centres. Please refer to the full Terms & conditions for details. 

Terms & conditions

By completing and submitting an application to Council, each applicant agrees to be bound by the following terms and conditions:

  • Community banner sign sites can generally only be used by community/non-profit organisations for the purpose of promoting community events and sporting club activities within the Moreton Bay Regional Council (council) local government area.  However, council may at its discretion hire banner sign sites to applicants who do not conform to these criteria. 
  • Applicants must complete/submit an 'Application to erect a community banner' form, and return the form to council for consideration. Completing the 'Application to erect a community banner' does not guarantee the use of the banner sites being requested. 
  • Council events and advertising have priority over other applicants.
  • Applicants must provide their own banner, which must, in council's opinion, consist of good quality materials and be sign written with, appropriate wording relating to the event.
  • All banners must comply with the requirements contained in Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 of these terms and conditions, council must approve any banner prior to its erection. 
  • Council may accept, deny or cancel the hire of the site to any applicant at its discretion.
  • Banners may be erected for either a one (1) or two (2) week period directly prior to the event date.  Banners cannot be erected for a period longer than two weeks. 
  • Applicants may book up to a maximum of five (5) sites per event at any one time.
  • Events such as monthly markets may only advertise at one (1) site for one (1) week per month and approval is at council's discretion.
  • Banners will be removed on the last day of the booking (by Monday).
  • Should the banner site no longer be required, the applicant must notify council of the cancellation at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • Any banner damaged or not complying with any of these terms and conditions may be removed by council, with any associated costs paid by the organisation.
  • The applicant may not erect any advertising or promotional material at a banner site without the prior written consent of the council.
  • Sponsorship on banners is restricted to a maximum of two (2) major sponsor's logos positioned either along the bottom or right hand side of the banner. Any requests for additional sponsorship must be accompanied a written sponsorship agreement or approved funding application. 
  • Council may vary these terms and conditions of hire at any time at its absolute discretion.
  • The applicant voluntarily undertakes any risks associated with using the community banner poles and releases council, Councillors, employees, agents and officers of the council from any all liability for damage, loss or injury, however caused, that the applicant may suffer as a result of or arising from breach of these terms and conditions and the installation and use of the banner poles. 
  • The applicant acknowledges and agrees that council, Councillors, employees, agents and officers of council may plead this waiver and indemnity as a bar to any proceedings they may commence against all or any of them.
  • The applicant agrees to indemnify and keep indemnified council, Councillors, employees, agents and officers of council against any liability, claim, demand, cost or damage they may incur as a result of or arising from, whether directly or indirectly, breach of these terms and conditions and use and installation of the banner.
