Dog parks & beaches

  • Dogs MUST be leashed at all times outside your property, except when in designated off-leash areas. Fines apply.
  • Pick up after your pet. Council provides dog tidy bags and disposal bins at various locations throughout the region.
  • Be considerate of others when walking or exercising your dog. Remember that owners are responsible for the actions and behaviour of their dogs at all times.

Designated on and off leash areas

Dogs are prohibited from conservation parks, reserves and foreshores unless designated as a dog exercise area.

The following areas have been allocated for the exercising of dogs on and off a leash, providing they are kept under strict control.

    Good shade, some lighting, dog waste bin and seating.

Bribie Island

Off Leash

  • In the enclosed area marked by official signs forming part of Cosmos Park on the corner of Sunderland Drive and Cosmos Avenue, Bribie behind the Croquet Club

  • On the beach from Red Beach car park around to Woody Bay, Woorim, Bribie Island
  • On the beach from Woody Bay to the pathway opposite the Koolamara at the corner of Lowry and Benelong Streets, Woorim, Bribie Island

On Leash

  • The entrance to Woorim Beach, Bribie Island from the entrance at the northern end of North Street northwards to the 4WD access track
  • The beach north of Boronia Drive to the end of Sylvan Beach Esplanade, Bribie Island

Beachmere

Off Leash

  • Southern end of Biggs Avenue adjacent to the carpark, south to the mouth of Caboolture River on the foreshore only - Beachmere Beach. Dogs are allowed on the signed parkland and beach only, Dogs are prohibited from entering the adjacent Beachmere South Reserve and estuary

On Leash

  • From the southern end of Biggs Avenue to opposite the end of Louise Drive, Beachmere Beach
  • Foreshore parkland adjacent to Timothy Esplanade, Bakers Flat Road

Bray Park

  • Open grassed area western end of the Arboretum bounded by the billabongs, tree line, river, private property and houses in Mainsail Drive

Off-Leash trial

  • Foreshore footpath area between Wallin Avenue and Joseph Crescent before 8.00am and after 4.00pm daily.
    Council is currently trialling the foreshore footpath between Wallin Avenue and Joseph Crescent as a dog off-leash exercise area before 8:00am and after 4:00pm daily. Outside of these times the foreshore footpath remains an on-leash dog area.

Donnybrook

  • The foreshore area on South Esplanade from Edith Street to the south

  • On any beach between Jamieson Park and Endeavour Park, Scarborough
  • Off-Leash trial: All beaches at Queen’s Beach North Scarborough between Drury Point (Kennedy Esplanade) and Osbourne Point (Flinders Lane)
    Before 8.00am and after 4.00pm daily
    In response to community feedback, council is currently trialling the section of beach between Drury Point and Queens Beach North in Scarborough as an off-leash dog exercise area before 8.00am and after 4.00pm daily.
    Outside of those times, the beachfront remains an on-leash dog area.

Sandstone Point

  • The foreshore east of the stairs off Clark Terrace - on the lower level only
  • The foreshore south of the carpark off Bestmann Road East, to parkland adjacent to Avalon Street

Strathpine

  • Piggott Reserve, Nicol Way
    Fully fenced, refillable water bowl, dog waste bin and seating
  • Rob Akers Reserve, Bells Pocket Road
    Small fenced area with refillable drinking bowl and seating.
    Larger unfenced area, car barriers only, waste bag dispenser, dog waste bins, and picnic settings
