Cultivate the arts: Creative Studios

The Caboolture Hub offers low cost creative studio space for lease by artists and creative industry professionals in the Moreton Bay Region.

Eligible applicants can apply for a six-month lease in one of four specially designed studio spaces. Successful tenants will also receive information and support to develop their creative business practice as well as professional development opportunities.


Who can apply

Applicants must:

  • Be an artist residing in, or a creative business based in and/or relevant to, the Moreton Bay Region
  • Be aged 18 years or over
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Hold a minimum of $20million public liability for the duration of the residency and supply a current Certificate of Currency.

Art forms and creative industries considered for residencies include, but are not limited to: visual art, ceramics, photography, fashion, music, film, performance, design, architecture, animation, arts consultancy, creative event production, arts project workers/managers, digital and multimedia, print making, cross disciplinary works, sculpture.

Costs

Rent is charged at $55.00 per month, per studio. Charges for the following financial year may change in accordance with the fees adopted by council for that financial year. The term of the lease is 6 months with the possibility of extension.

The rental fee covers the use of studio space, with four spaces available for hire. The studios are located on the lower ground level of the Caboolture Hub. Each studio includes:

  • concrete floors
  • ample storage
  • stainless steel benches and sinks
  • large glass window frontage to showcase work (public visibility must be maintained)
  • power outlets
  • lighting
  • air-conditioning
  • wifi connectivity

Tuesday 8.00am - 8.00pm
Wednesday 8.00am - 5.00pm
Thursday 8.00am - 8.00pm
Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm
Saturday 9.00am - 4.00pm
Sunday & public holidays Closed

What to expect

Studio residents will be required to:

  • Be business ready and have a willingness to develop their professional and technical skills.
  • Be active in the studio space and have a willingness to contribute to the vitality and vibrancy of the studio and surrounding spaces.
  • Engage with the broader community and champion the spaces and related activity via active engagement and promotion through your professional networks.
  • Be available to meet regularly with a Council Community & Cultural Programs Officer.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively with other studio residents when required.

Available support

Successful applicants will be supported during their residency to connect with opportunities that develop their creative business. During the residency artists will:

  • Have access to a Council Community & Cultural Programs Officer to provide relevant information and support.
  • Receive free registration for up to four Cultivate the Arts Workshops to support their professional development.
  • Receive a heavily subsided rent of $55.00/month, inclusive of High Speed WiFi.
  • Incur no overhead costs such as rates, water or electricity.
