Waste facility access
Does the introduction of the waste levy change the way I access and use waste facilities?
To meet State Government reporting requirements, the way you access, travel through and deliver waste to council facilities has changed from 1 July 2019.
One of the key changes in the Moreton Bay Region is the requirement for council to record vehicle/waste origin details as well as waste weights and type, to ensure the State Government is provided with the necessary information under legislation.
Fines can apply for inaccurate or false information
Depending on the composition of the load taken to a waste facility, users may be required to access and unload materials at more than one specific disposal area, e.g. green waste/steel/general waste collection sites.
Note the new requirements are expected to increase waiting and waste disposal times at council’s waste facilities as the new processes and reporting measures are introduced.
Your understanding and patience while our community initially adapts to the service impacts of the waste levy is appreciated.
