Fauna movement infrastructure

Fauna bridges and underpasses provide native wildlife with safer access between the region’s parks, reserves and corridors.

They also help to improve safety for motorists by reducing the likelihood of collisions with wild animals.

Wildlife movement infrastructures re-establishes important ecological linkages previously severed by roads.

Council’s Green Infrastructure Network Delivery Program has installed:

  • 20 fauna rope bridges connecting tree canopy habitat
  • 10 fauna underpasses for wildlife passage
  • 10,000 metres of fauna exclusion fencing along roadsides
  •  50 wildlife road pavement stencils in key crossing locations
