Albany Creek & Morayfield Skate Parks

Council is committed to providing parks and public spaces that promote active and healthy lifestyles for residents of all ages and abilities.

Council has identified that one of the fastest growing trends in physical activity is outdoor recreation (Outdoor Recreation Plan 2019-2031). As such, skating and skate parks are growing in popularity within the region and in the wider community. In response Council has recently undertaken a region wide Skate and BMX park audit to support Council’s Skate Park and BMX Facilities Strategy 2010(PDF, 2MB).

Council has evaluated the current offering of skate parks and assessed both the quality and ‘skate-ability’ of these facilities. The audit also considered the provision of facilities and requirements for improving and maintaining them.

Ultimately, the audit provided strategic recommendations for site upgrades throughout the Moreton Bay Region.

The Albany Creek and Morayfield skate parks have been identified  as priority sites for upgrade from district level to major level facilities.

Council is currently working with Convic Skate Parks & Youth Spaces to begin the initial stages of planning for these sites.
