Council is currently planning the upgrade of Flinders Parade, North Lakes. The current proposal includes the upgrade of three intersections:
- Diamond Jubilee Way
- Cook Court
- Torres Crescent.
The upgrades will undergo engineering design during 2020/21. The completion of such design will inform the required approvals and future year budgets to deliver these much-needed upgrades.
The upgrades aim to improve road safety and reduce traffic delays and congestion caused by the existing and increasing traffic demand. Specifically, the following is proposed:
- an extra turning lane on Diamond Jubilee Way for making a right-turn into Flinders Parade
- traffic signals at Flinders Parade and Cook Court intersection, including pedestrian signals
- on Finders Parade, extend the right-turn lane into Cook Court and provide an extra traffic lane between Torres Crescent and Diamond Jubilee Way
- convert the existing Flinders Parade and Torres Crescent T-Intersection into a roundabout
Combined, these works will improve intersection capacity and reduce delays, plus provide a safer road environment for motorists and pedestrians.
Council will undertake further consultation once the design has progressed.
