Bribie Island Road Ningi - Site improvement works
Published 24 July 2019
Moreton Bay Regional Council has prepared initial plans for proposed site improvement works at the Bribie Island Road site. The works include the re-establishment of a six metre wide fire control line and construction of a swale drain along the western boundary of the site to address concerns about fire risk and rainfall runoff from the site.
Council is also undertaking progressive weeding and revegetation across large areas of the site over the coming years, with the short-term aim of re-establishing a vegetated buffer between homes and the site, and a long-term aim of enriching the native species communities, environmental values and overall visual amenity.
Site works commenced in July 2019 with the clearing of an approximately twelve metre-wide corridor along the western boundary of the site to re-establish the fire control line and also make way for the stormwater swale drain. The clearing included careful removal of predominantly old slash pines from along the fence-line of neighbouring properties. Works to construct the swale drain were undertaken in October-November 2019, following finalisation of design plans.
