School sports events

Council has several state-of-the-art sporting fields that cater for a variety of sports, including rugby union, rugby league, softball, netball, baseball and cricket. These sporting fields are available for schools to use for sporting events. These events include:

  • school sports
  • cross country
  • interschool sports
  • district sports
  • term sports.

Schools wishing to use a Council sports field may need to submit an application for approval. Council regulates these activities to ensure they are carried out safely while taking surrounding residents and other sport field users into consideration.

The criteria for submitting a school sports activity permit are:

  • less than 499 people
  • has a minimal set up, such as marquees, tables, and chairs
  • does not require vehicle access to sports field
  • does not require access to Council’s electricity or water supply
  • no amusement devices
  • no traffic management or parking restrictions.

If your activity does not meet the above criteria you may need to submit an events application. If you are unsure whether you need a approval or what type of approval to apply for, contact Council on (07) 3205 0555.

You need to submit your application and all supporting documentation at least 30 business days before the activity start date. Applications can be accepted up to 6 months in advance.

Once all supporting documents have been provided, your application will be reviewed and assessed under Events Local Law 2023.
