Nestled upriver on the banks of the South Pine River, Kumbartcho Sanctuary is a 6-hectare site allowing visitors to explore and appreciate rainforest ecosystems. Previously home to the Bunya Park Wildlife Sanctuary, the Kumbartcho grounds include old features such as a koala view deck, dam and environment centre.
Inside the centre, visitors can engage with a range of displays including a 4 foot long fish tank and nocturnal display. The centre is free of charge to enter and we encourage families to utilise the craft activities and books on offer.
View our brochure(PDF, 3MB) for more information.
Note: Kumbartcho Sanctuary's grounds are not bookable spaces and dogs are not allowed on site (service dogs excepted).
The community nursery grows local native plants for community projects and for planting in reserves, parks, schools and public open spaces and is open to the public.
