Regional economic development grant

The Regional economic development grant program provides funding of up to $10,000 to support community organisations in the development and implementation of initiatives that advance the Moreton Bay regional economy and align with the four pillars of the Moreton Bay Regional Economic Development Strategy:

  • Leadership and Identity
  • Industry Advancement
  • Trade and Investment
  • Knowledge, Innovation and Entrepreneurship 

and contribute to its "Bigger, Bolder, Brighter" goals.

When to apply?

Applications are currently closed. The next round of applications will be announced at a later date.

Lodging an application

Prior to lodging a Regional economic development grant application, applicants are required to contact Council’s Economic Development Department first to discuss their proposal. This will provide an opportunity for applicants to receive initial feedback regarding the eligibility and alignment of their proposal with respect to Council’s Regional Economic Development Strategy and these Guidelines.

Who can apply

A community organisation that applies for funding must meet the following criteria:

  • be based in the Moreton Bay Region and/or can demonstrate that the proposed project will primarily contribute to the "Bigger, Bolder, Brighter" economic goals of the Moreton Bay Region
  • have $20 million public liability insurance if required by Council
  • have no outstanding debts to City of Moreton Bay
  • have no overdue acquittals and satisfactorily accounted to Council for the expenditure of any previous Council funding.

Individuals are not eligible to apply for funding.

Retrospective funding of projects is not available.

Resources to help you with your application

Regional economic development grant applications can be for projects independently identified and developed by eligible groups, or for products and services outlined in the REDS grants program resource kit(PDF, 1MB).

The resource kit contains 

  • product and services that align with the grant objectives.
  • descriptions of how a product or service aligns with the grant objective.
  • funding application responses that can be copied and pasted into your grant application.

Council does not guarantee the product or services of the suppliers contained within the kit and is not liable for any agreements or contracts between grant recipients and suppliers. Grant recipients will be responsible for selecting suitable suppliers based on their evaluation and due diligence. 

Supporting documentation

Depending on the grant category for which you are applying, you may need:

  • Current public liability insurance certificate
  • Audited financial documents
  • Bank statement header
  • Quotes.

Assessment and notification

Applications progress through the following stages:

  1. Eligibility review
  2. Merit assessment
  3. Council endorsement
  4. Applicants notified
