Council Meetings Coming to a Community Near You

Samford Community Council Meeting

For the first time ever Moreton Bay Regional Council is taking its General Meetings on the road and coming to a community near you.

Samford will be the first stop on the regional tour with locals invited to come along and connect with Councillors and senior staff at the Samford Community Hub on Wednesday 15 September 2021.

Numbers will be limited due to COVID restrictions, so Mayor Peter Flannery has encouraged locals to secure their spot by submitting questions online.

“Don’t miss your chance to talk face-to-face with Council on a particular project or topic at our first ever Community Council Meeting in Samford,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

“I’m looking forward to hearing firsthand about the topics that came through as important to locals in Samford, Dayboro and surrounds in our landmark Moreton Says survey.

“Having just turned the first sod on Samford’s $4.5 million pedestrian bridge with Pine Rivers MP Nikki Boyd and Cr Darren Grimwade and recently opened the $4.45 million Samford Community Hub with Minister Peter Dutton, I know this is a well-represented community but it’s also remote and that’s why this initiative is important.

“This is just the start, we’ll be hosting Community Council Meetings right across Moreton Bay Region to get to as many towns and suburbs as possible.

“It's also a great opportunity for residents to address and debate things that matter to them most, as well as showcasing the uniqueness of each community.

“Which is something our region prides itself on as the third largest local government in Australia, spanning 2,045km2 and home to more than 480,000 people.

“These Community Council Meetings will be a great opportunity to build on that feedback from the Moreton Says survey to create better outcomes for our different communities.

“If you haven’t had a chance to check out the new Samford Community Hub, please come along to the General Meeting, enjoy morning tea on the veranda overlooking the beautiful valley, or book in for a community meeting.”

Please note numbers will be limited due to Covid restrictions.
