Winter-Feast

From June to August, lovers of literature in Moreton Bay will be able to enjoy a series of free readers and writers events through the Write Around Moreton Bay: Winter Feast program.

Featuring talks from award-winning Australian and local authors alongside fun skill-building workshops from industry professionals, Moreton Bay Region Libraries promise to deliver a smorgasbord of events that will spark creativity and passion for literature.

Mayor Peter Flannery said this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the amazing local talent we have here in Moreton Bay, but also hear from the best and brightest from across Australia.

“Whether you’re a fan of crime or romance novels, our libraries have pulled together a fabulous series of events with authors like award-winning writer Michael Robotham and Australian journalist Matthew Spencer joining the line up,” he said.

“Our region is also home to amazingly talented local writers and creatives, and it’s great to be able to celebrate their talent and hear more about their latest work.

“We’ve gathered many diverse and exciting local authors like Sean Jacobs, Stella Quinn and Jack Rooney to share their stories and speak about their latest books with our community.

“This program showcases how our libraries continue to be a hub of creativity, delivering high quality, free programs at a time when many families in the region are looking for ways they can enjoy themselves without breaking the bank.”

The Winter Feast also offers locals the opportunity to learn or develop new skills through a range of workshops delivered by industry professionals, including podcasting, screenwriting and uncovering the art of Young Adult fiction writing.

“The Write Around Moreton Bay program has been inspiring local writers and authors for over a decade, helping to develop the skills of emerging writers across the region through a wide range of workshops and writing seminars,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

“These events and workshops are the perfect way to encourage thought-provoking discussions and kindle your creative side while you keep cosy during winter and beyond.

“I would encourage everyone to visit their nearest library this winter to meet your favourite author, learn a new skill, join a writers or book group and connect with other lovers of literature.”

Write Around Moreton Bay: Winter Feast is on from 1 June - 31 August 2022 with events across Moreton Bay Region Libraries.
