Stay Connected This Neighbour Day

Published 26 March 2020

Keep your distance, but stay connected. That’s the message to Moreton Bay Region residents this ‘Neighbour Day’.

At this unusual time in the world’s history, Acting Mayor Mike Charlton said it was more important than ever to look out for the people who are closest to you.

“That includes your neighbours,” he said.

“If you’re unsure what to do this Neighbour Day, locals are encouraged to pick up the phone and call their neighbours for a friendly chat and to offer support.

“This is a great way of reaching out to people next door who might be self-isolating or in need of extra help, and let them know they’re being thought of.

“As lockdown restrictions increase, many people will require extra support and that’s when a simple gesture of help can make all the difference.

“The most important thing is that everyone continues to practise good hygiene by using soap when washing their hands and keeping 1.5 metres from each other.

“Let’s face this together by looking out for each other during the coronavirus pandemic.”

Neighbour Day is on Sunday 29 March.
