After hosting the region’s first Premiership NRL matches last weekend, it didn’t take long to convert the NRL into coming back.

Another dynamite double header will take place at Moreton Daily Stadium on Sunday 29 August 2021.

  • 4:05pm Penrith Panthers v Wests Tigers

Mayor Peter Flannery said the success of the region’s first NRL matches had secured another mammoth weekend of nail-biting action.

“The NRL have had their first taste of Moreton Bay, and it’s clear they want more!” Mayor Flannery said.

“Last weekend’s double header was one to remember, bringing together footy fans, bolstering local business and boosting the spirits of residents coming out of lockdown.

“Cronulla Sharks prop Toby Rudolf shouted ‘I love Redcliffe!’ during his half time interview and shared his fond memories returning back to the same place he won the 2018 Queensland Cup playing for the Redcliffe Dolphins.

“Blown away by the impressive facilities at Moreton Daily Stadium, Newcastle Knights players were also quick to endorsed us to be the next NRL team in the comp.

“They even likened being in Redcliffe to playing a home game thanks to the incredible crowd atmosphere.

“This feedback from players further cements Redcliffe as the home of rugby league and why we should be the starting line-up when the NRL chooses the comp’s 17th team.

“With finals just around the corner, I hope locals continue to show their support by coming along to watch another dazzling double header on Sunday 29 August.

“So whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town, please look to support local and explore the best of Moreton Bay.”
