The crème de la crème of Moreton Bay Region’s food producers headed to the annual Meet the Makers 2021 event in search of new business (Monday March 15).

Mayor Peter Flannery said 10 of our finest food and agriculture businesses showcased their wares at the exhibition and networking event, thanks to Council’s activation support.

“We’re already renowned as one of Australia’s biggest strawberry growing regions, but I want the nation to know the full array and quality of food production here” he said.

“This trailblazing gourmands highlight what’s possible with a little innovation, showcasing modern twists on products from chilli iced coffee and granola clusters through to beef jerky and goats cheese.

“The Meet the Makers event was a great opportunity for our entrepreneurial food and agri businesses to connect with other businesses to help start their empire.

“Council has recently launched our Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS), which provides a framework to help these businesses flourish in Moreton Bay Region and to attract more players and create more opportunities all round.

“Our aim is to double the economy to $40 billion, create 100,000 new jobs and become one of Australia’s leading regional innovation hubs by 2041.”

One of the 10 businesses that represented Moreton Bay Region is Chilli Coffee, best known for its new revolutionary 4Real Dragon Milk range.

Managing Director Douglas Bates said Meet the Makers was a great opportunity to get his product out into the market after celebrating the company’s first birthday on Friday.

“The bottom line is this was a great opportunity – it’s the first real event afforded to us because of COVID-19 so we’re thinking ‘hallelujah’,” he said.

“We’re now coming out the other side and we can go out and start promoting.

“I can only take my hat off to the Meet the Makers organisers and Council. It’s been a breath of fresh air to work with someone who knows what they’re doing.

“We have a range of 20 products we’ve created in one year including the only two lactose free, low sugar milks in Australia, and they’re drop dead gorgeous.”

The businesses that represented Moreton Bay Region were: Aztec Foods, Bask & Co, ByGreen, Keto Loco, Little White Goat Cheese, Mallory Tocino, Cococoture, Chilli Coffee, Project Salubrious, and Dayboro Valley Brewery.
