2019 Art Award Winner

Being local is the competitive edge, with the new 2021 Moreton Bay Region Art Prize only open to residents.

Building on the strong foundation and legacy of the Moreton Bay Region Art Awards, Mayor Peter Flannery said the new focus of the art prize will be supporting and celebrating local artists.

“In previous years, artists from across the country could enter the art awards, now the new art prize is open only to Moreton Bay residents,” Mayor Flannery said.

“We made this change to better support and celebrate local artists who have endured a challenging year with COVID-19.

“With a total prize pool of $10,000, there are 10,000 reasons why artists should enter today!

“As well as the prize money, finalists will have the opportunity to have their artwork exhibited at the new Pine Rivers Art Gallery in March.

“The opening of the new art gallery in itself will be exciting for the local creative community, and a fantastic space to connect with the breadth of talent we have in Moreton Bay.

“Art has this incredible ability to bring joy and community to our lives, something I know we have all appreciated more than ever during these uncertain times.”

The exhibition of finalists will be held at the new Pine Rivers Art Gallery from 27 March - 24 April 2021.

Entry is free, with applications closing Friday 26 February 2021.
