An exciting new vision for the Caboolture Regional Environmental Education Centre (CREEC) has been unveiled for community consultation.

Moreton Bay Regional Council has released the CREEC draft master plan and is encouraging residents to have their say until 30 October.

Mayor Peter Flannery said Council wants to enhance the recreation, education and environmental experiences already on offer at the centre.

“CREEC is a local favourite for residents, school groups and childcare centres, so it’s we need to make sure it keeps pace with community expectations and modern standards,” Mayor Flannery said.

“This has never been more important than in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has reminded us all of the importance of outdoor recreation and getting back to nature for our health and wellbeing.

“So we’ve included designs for a new nature-based playground with a range of modern features to complement the existing all-abilities playground.

“The master plan also includes a range of exciting upgrades, from improvements to the education centre to new picnic tables and seats, and expanding the current trail network to ensure they’re inclusive and accessible for all.”

Cr Tony Latter (Div 12) said Council was already planning essential upgrades to the CREEC play facility, carpark, power and waste water system.

“So we’re taking this opportunity to take the first steps towards a new future for CREEC and I want to hear what locals have to say,” Cr Latter said.

“Head to our website to see all the information and then submit feedback online, in person at CREEC or come along to the dedicated information session to get all your questions answered by Council staff and consultants.

“We’re asking the whole community to get involved through this consultation to make sure our vision covers the needs of people who are as passionate about CREEC as we are.”

A public information session will be held at CREEC on Saturday 24 October 9am-12 midday, no bookings required.

Residents can view the master plan and submit their feedback through Council’s website up until 30 October: www.mbrc.qld.gov.au/CREEC-draft-masterplan
