Council wants your say on wayfinding sign improvements

After the endorsement of its Outdoor Recreation Plan 2019-2031, Moreton Bay Regional Council is calling on lovers of the great outdoors to have their say on the development of new wayfinding signage at popular recreational sites across the region.

The feedback from the community will help improve the experience of a range of outdoor activities including bush walking, horse riding, mountain biking and increasingly popular water activities.

Mayor Peter Flannery said wayfinding signage at trails and waterways not only provides users with information to safely navigate around the site, but helps them understand the history, culture and ecology of the natural landscape.

“Our region is home to an abundance of natural attractions for locals and visitors to enjoy, from the beautiful bay to our stunning rivers and breathtaking hinterland,” Cr Flannery said.

“COVID has really pushed people in Moreton Bay to explore and rediscover our very own backyard and it has never been a more important time for Council to invest in opportunities to benefit the health and happiness of our community.

“These wayfinding signs will also improve the experience for our visitors, who bring in around $1 billion to the region annually.

“Having an abundance of free spaces to enjoy a hike, cycle and canoe means visitors have more money to spend at our hotels, restaurants and retails stores during their stay in Moreton Bay which is great for our local businesses.

“Whether you prefer activities on the land or on our waterways, we want to hear from you on how to improve the signage designs at these spectacular sites.”
