Council announces further closures to minimise spread of COVID-19

Published 30 March 2020

Moreton Bay Region residents are advised Council’s customer service centres in Strathpine and Caboolture will shut at the close of business this afternoon, Monday 30 March, for an undetermined period as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Council’s call centre remains open to service all enquiries and one-on-one meetings can be arranged for people who are unable to access what they need online or via phone.

Public playgrounds, outdoor gyms, skate parks, BBQ’s and off leash dog parks in the region will soon be a no go.

Council are in the process of closing all these facilities with closures to come into effect as of Midnight tonight following new restrictions announced by the Federal Government overnight to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

On Sunday the National Cabinet revised down its 10-person limit on public gatherings to just two people, with the exception of those living in the same household.

People aged 70 or older have been advised to stay indoors unless going out for exercise or fresh air.

While facilities are closed, residents can be assured that Moreton Bay Regional Council will continue to deliver essential services during the coronavirus outbreak.

Crews will continue to collect waste, maintain roads and mow Council’s open spaces throughout the new lockdown rules.

Residents are asked to place their rubbish bins on the kerb the night before their regular bin day to ensure they don’t miss the rubbish pickup.
