Youth Week celebrations ramp up

Note: All Youth Week events have been cancelled to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

Have you ever wanted to parkour like a ninja warrior? Try your hand at a new art form? or just have a safe place to chill out with other young people?

The youth of Moreton Bay can do all these activities and much more for free or at a small cost during this year’s Youth Week celebrations (April 1-9).

Acting Mayor Mike Charlton said this year’s theme 'Yeah the youth' is a call to friendship, unity and strength among young people.

“Here in Moreton Bay we’re focused on empowering young people to actively participate and contribute to their community,” Cr Charlton said.

“Whether it’s learning to stand-up paddle board for the first time or making sculptures out of recycled materials, they’ll be sure to have a blast and learn valuable life lessons along the way.

“Not only will they take part in low cost or free fun activities, but they will be able to socialise and build relationships in a safe environments.”

There are 36 activities listed on Council’s website so far, including:

  • Table tennis (North Lakes)
  • High ropes challenge at (Kallangur)
  • Barefoot bowls (Bongaree)
  • Youth Art intensive with Simon Degroot (Caboolture)
  • Cabochon jewellery (Burpengary)
  • Drop-in craftivism (Strathpine)

Visit Council’s Youth Week landing page to view all the events you can take part in this April across Moreton Bay.

Stay tuned for Council’s grant recipients, who will be announced soon.
