Iconic Centenary Lakes Park Gets a Modern Makeover

She’s an age-old beauty needing some TLC, Moreton Bay Regional Council wants your feedback before Centenary Lakes Park get a facelift to ensure that the precinct retains her charms.
Mayor Peter Flannery invites everyone to have their say on Council’s plans to revitalise parklands and sports fields.
“Centenary Lakes Park has worn the ravages of time since it was established way back in the 1970’s, not to mention the recent flood damage. Council recognises the need for upgrades to the park to make it more attractive and accessible to the community while protecting the natural beauty of its waterways,” he said.
“The park has always been a popular spot with local families, visitors and sporting groups, that’s why your input into a Master Plan will be key to our success in creating a park worthy of our vibrant, thriving community.”
Cr Adam Hain (Div 3) said it’s important that facilities are flood resilient and meet the needs of our growing community, now and into the future.
“Honestly the current design of the park isn’t working as well as it could, and the recent floods haven’t helped matters” he said.
“Pedestrian paths, car parking and access for people with disabilities, all need to be improved to make Centenary Lakes a better recreational place for our community.”
“Our vision is a vibrant, active parkland that draws people in because Centenary Lakes is one of the jewels of Moreton Bay and I believe upgrading the parkland will make it more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
“The first step is to create a Master Plan for what we want a revamped Centenary Lakes to look like, so please get online and have your say!”
Council is inviting community members to share their ideas for the future of the parkland using an interactive map at www.yoursay.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/centenarylakesrevamp
The map will gather feedback about parkland areas community members currently enjoy and areas they would like to see improved.
Council is also consulting sporting groups at Centenary Lakes to identify their future needs.
