Calling All Food Trucks - Suttons Beach Wants You!

Invasive testing into structural issues at the Pavilions might still be underway, but that’s no reason to stop the family fun down at Suttons Beach.

Council has acted on community calls for food trucks along the foreshore with three trading spaces now painted into the carpark - the only thing missing are vendors to get the party started!

Mayor Peter Flannery said Suttons Beach is always abuzz with families, but providing food trucks was a great temporary solution to respond to community calls for food at drink options at the beach.

“There are three designated sites - two for food trucks and one for a coffee vendor - and I hope to see lots of local operators applying for permits when they open online Monday,” he said.

“This is a temporary but important measure to maintain the vibrancy of that area, while we await the invasive testing reports into the Pavilions structure and plan the future of this popular local precinct.

“We’ve heard your very clear feedback that food and drink options should be available at Suttons Beach, but also heard concerns from some people that they don’t see food trucks as a long-term solution here.

“Our survey responses showed 74% of people visited Suttons Beach in the last 12 months to buy food and drink, and 77% wanted places to purchase food and drink in the future.

“Some people have told us they would like food trucks at the site while others have told us they don’t want food trucks long-term preferring bricks and mortar operators.

“We hope these changes help our community to continue to enjoy Suttons Beach while longer-term planning for the site is undertaken.”

From Monday 1 August 2022, permit-holding participants in the Moreton Bay Pop Ups Program will be able to apply to book the sites between 6am–8pm Monday–Sunday.

Local business who would like to join the Pop Ups Program can do so by applying for a Sale of Goods - Moreton Bay Pop Ups Permit.

Council’s Public Space Permits Team is available to assist applicants through the permitting process and can be contacted by emailing  PublicSpacePermits@moretonbay.qld.gov.au, or by phoning 07 3205 0555 and asking to be put through to the Public Space Permits Team.
