Division 3 has scored more than $10 million for road upgrades in Moreton Bay Regional Council’s 19/20 Budget.

Division 3 Councillor Adam Hain said, “we’ve got our pedal to the metal in 19/20 and will be focussing on several road upgrade projects in Division 3.”

“Roads connect us, bring communities together, support growth and economic development,” he said.

“So it’s crucial that the reliability of our road networks keep pace with population growth.

“That’s why we’ve committed $3 million to overhaul Oakey Flat Road and Walkers Road intersection in both directions, from Morayfield Road to Koala Drive and Jonkers Court to Ashbrook Drive.

“We’ve also allocated $2.45 million to install new shared paths and zebra crossings, street lighting, drainage improvements, tree planting, and road rehabilitation at McKean Street.

“An allocation of $1.86 million has been dedicated to supporting a new road connection, road widening, as well as pedestrian and cyclist connectivity at the Caboolture Brown Street corridor.

“We will spend $730,000 on road and drainage upgrades along Mark Street and the intersection with Kenneth Street, with another $300,000 committed for the start of shared zones, pathways, traffic calming and drainage upgrades along Walter Street in Caboolture.

“We will also invest $310,000 in fauna crossing infrastructure along Pumicestone Road in Caboolture to prevent wildlife from entering the road corridor.

“I am also pleased to announce we will invest $360,000 in the construction of a second car park and dog agility facility at Devine Sports Complex.”

Cr Hain said local parks would also get a funding boost with a $120,000 renewal of exercise equipment across six fitness stations at Centenary Lakes, a $75,000 renewal of playground equipment at Bluebell Street Park and an additional $75,000 to revamp playground equipment at Afton Street Park.

“Our local parks are fantastic areas for families to relax and have a good time.

“As more families move to our region to enjoy our relaxed lifestyle, it’s important our infrastructure is able to cater and support that growth effectively.

“These upgrades will also help to ensure our park’s infrastructure is of an appropriate standard.”

Cr Hain said he was also pleased to announce more than $190,000 for the Caboolture Hub including improvements to safety, security and signage as well as and upgrade of the library work room.

Additionally, Cr Hain said council had also earmarked $80,000 for the preparation of a site master plan of the Caboolture Sports Centre.
