Brisbane Roar - Moreton Daily Stadium

Moreton Daily stadium will Roar to life all weekend, with the Intrust Super Cup team taking on Burleigh Bears on Saturday night before the A-League elimination final on Sunday when the Brisbane Roar take on Adelaide United in a do-or-die clash.

Mayor Peter Flannery said this weekend would be our time to shine, after Townsville hosts State of Origin on Wednesday and the Gabba getting the AFL grand final last year.

“I think the hardest job will be for the grounds crew to have the grounds pitch perfect within a one day turn around,” Mayor Flannery said.

“But it’s the perfect demonstration of our stadium’s capabilities, as we push to secure the lucrative NRL licence for Moreton Bay Region.

“Our record investment in sports infrastructure in recent years is paying dividends, and I know local businesses will enjoy the injection of spending from Gold Coast and interstate visitors with these two matches.

“Ask any football fan and they’ll say there’s nowhere better to enjoy the beautiful game than our stadium, in fact it’s become a fortress for the Roar since they started playing here!

“They won successive matches at the start of the year, defying expectations that they might struggle this year, which is exactly the kind of underdog story we love here in Moreton Bay Region.

“Tickets are expected to sell out quickly so get online to secure yours know if you want to be part of the excitement of this cutthroat final, it’s the first time in four years the Roar have hosted an elimination round so the atmosphere will be electric.

“You might even want to apply now to have Monday off work.”
