Craig Feuerriegel, Volunteer of the Year

Full-time firefighter Craig Feuerriegal hasn’t just made community service his profession, he also finds time to serve as president for the Peninsula Power Soccer Club at Kippa-Ring.

Craig has been an active member of the soccer club since it was built in 2000 and his efforts have helped the club become one of Queensland’s best.

Acting Mayor Councillor Mike Charlton said Craig’s was a deserving Volunteer of the Year.

“Craig has demonstrated through his courageous work as a fire-fighter and his volunteer work as the president for the Soccer Club that his heart is truly in the Moreton Bay community,” said Cr Charlton.

Craig said his main motivation for volunteering at the club was to bring the community together to get active and healthy.

“One of the biggest things we do at the club is try to get as much participation as we can, everyone is encouraged to take part and have fun,” he said.

“It is so important to make sure we have a place for everyone to come together and enjoy the aspect of community that is so special here in Kippa-Ring.”

Division 6 Councillor Koliana Winchester commended Craig’s work in fostering a sense of community at the football club.

“It’s an honour to pay tribute to the special people in our community like Craig, it’s fantastic we have opportunities like this to recognise and celebrate their achievements,” said Cr Winchester.
