Arana Hills Library will write a new page in its history this Saturday, May 23, reopening its doors after undergoing major renovations.

Moreton Bay Region Mayor Peter Flannery said visitors and locals can expect a whole new look and feel the next time they visit.

“I’m excited to welcome people back to the library, which received a much-needed face lift that included a new roof, lovely outlooks to the park and overhaul of the space inside,” he said.

“Council staff have worked hard to create an engaging and contemporary space inspired by the Hills District itself.

“There’s a new children’s space Curlew Corner with several Hills-inspired features for children to explore and an imaginative space for families to enjoy together.

“Other interactive elements that will keep little brains engaged include a Lego wall and a tree inspired interactive feature wall promoting language and literacy.”

Division 10 Councillor Matt Constance said the design of the new space reflected the unique environment the Hill’s District.

“I know many have missed visiting their local library during COVID-19, so it’s fantastic news to announce the library reopening,” he said.

“The Arana Hills Library is now the perfect place for locals to visit and excuse to get out of the house now restrictions are easing.

“You can take in the expansive parkland views through new feature picture windows while relaxing in comfortable reading nooks.

“And once restrictions ease further, there’s plenty of room to study and read too, with quieter zones and booths to cocoon in, complete with power to connect and recharge your devices and of course free Wi-Fi throughout.

“It’s fantastic to see this beloved community space revitalised so that Arana Hills residents have the best available facilities.”

Arana Hills will reopen with a Library Express service, in line with current COVID-19 restrictions at 9:00 AM, Saturday May 23.

Only 10 customers will be allowed at a time in a library and able to spend up to 15 minutes browsing for books or 30 minutes using the public computers, which can be booked via phone, email or online.
