Showcasing some of the amazing photographic talent and artistic eye Bribie Island has to offer, Bribie young people’s photography competition saw many entries from those ages 10 - 24.
Open to individuals who attend school or live on the island, we received many wonderful entries capturing favourite locations, much loved companions, and natural wonders at their finest.
After much deliberation, finalists within each age category have been reached and are detailed below.
Winners from each category will be announced during Youth Week 2022 and presented professionally printed copies of their award-winning images.
"This photo "Boats by Bridge" not only captures the only way to get on and off Bribie island via the iconic Bribie bridge it also represents memories that I have from many waterfront walks with my family. I took this photograph on my 12th birthday, after receiving the camera I had asked for as my birthday gift. Taking photographs is one of my favourite past times, the photo of the hire boats located just over the Bribie bridge captures just a few of the past times offered on Bribe Island, from fishing in the Pumicestone Passage to relaxing by the water’s edge."
"Your in a polluted island and find a glass ball on a tree. Curious you peer into it and see The most beautiful island ever comes into view."
"I got a camera and I wanted to explore what I could do I found a leaf and it had a dragonfly on it so I tried to take a good photo without moving or blurring the picture and it worked I got a great photo by staying still and concentrating."
"Taking my dogs for a walk most afternoons along the beach and fishing. I love watching the sunsets after school and changing colours on the water."
"A lovely rainbow lorikeet eating grass seeds on a beautiful sunny afternoon."
"You're showing people a side of Bribie bridge that is rarely seen...the bridge plays a vital role in connecting Bribie islanders to mainland and in bringing visitors to our beautiful island. The bridge is a much-photographed image, but this side of our bridge is rarely seen."
"Summer times; Starting new beginning's, creating new memories and enjoying life."
"Taken from my favourite spot to take in the sunset from Bribie Island."
"I've been sick for years; we got a new dog and we've been inseparable ever since. This photo sums up the feelings of both the dog and I for each other. Silver linings are great. But golden, golden is just special and so is Bindi.”
