Featured artists and programs

There is a different artist and program featured for each month of this event.

March

Super Party

Throughout March we will be featuring Vincent Namatjira's Power Portraits and Kaylene Whiskey's Super Party Project.

Power Portraits

Vincent paints portraits of important historical figures, from his great-grandfather Albert Namatjira to international heads of state and politicians. In this activity, Vincent invites children to adopt 'power icons' such as crowns and hats in the form of paper props. Select your power icon and have your photo taken in front of a paper backdrop for your very own Power Portrait.

Super Party Project

Kaylene often paints herself and her heroes as having fun in the remote Indigenous community where she lives. In this activity, children will create a scene featuring their own heroes using coloured pencils and cut out pictures from a collage sheet.

Bookings are not required.

April

Super Party

During April, our feature activity will be Gordon Hookey's Make a Roo. Gordon's artworks are inspired by Australian history and everyday life.

Children are invited to choose from several kangaroo mask templates, customise their own design and hop into character with their mask.

Bookings are not required.

This activity was inspired by Albert's photographic series Warakurna Superheroes 2017, made in collaboration with children from Warakurna in Western Australia.

This project invites children to create their very own superhero identity. Design a costume using a template and trace a selection of outfits with lots of colour and details.

Bookings are not required.
