We are surrounded by signs and symbols. Over time, symbols have gone in and out of fashion. Some have endured, others faded away, and new symbols have emerged. Discover the stories behind the local, national and international brands, icons and symbols we all know and trust. Showcasing objects from the Moreton Bay Regional Council Heritage Collection and loans from the community. Exhibition developed by Moreton Bay Regional Council.  

Opening Guest Speaker: Mr Michael Bryce AM AE 

Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, formally of Bryce Design, and Minalle Tattersfield Bryce and Partner, will discuss highlights from his career as a graphic and industrial designer. Bryce Design was a seminal fixture and influencer of the design movement in Brisbane during the 1980s. Graduating from UQ School of Architecture in 1962, Bryce returned from living abroad in London to start his own architecture practise in 1968. Bryce designed logos for the National Trust and Australian War Memorial, before joining his practise with Minalle Tattersfield in 1988.The principal design adviser to the Sydney Olympic Games, Mr Bryce has designed several sporting logos including the 1982 Commonwealth Games and 1992 bid for the Olympic Games, the logo for the Wallabies rugby union team, and the PGA tour. In 2006 he was inducted into the Australian Design Hall of Fame and was made a member of the Order of Australia (AM).
