Moreton Bay has a long history of rich cultural experiences and practice. Covering the Country of the Jinibara, Kabi Kabi and Jagera/Turrbal people there is a strong commitment to sharing culture and stories across the region. This May, Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Art Gallery Network is foregrounding the work of local First Nations artists across its three galleries in exhibition Connecting Stories - Local Artist Showcase. In these exhibitions, artists share their own stories and celebrate culture through their individual artistic practices.

The selected work exhibited at Pine Rivers Art Gallery each looks at the regeneration of Country. Fire is a tool that has been used by First Nations people to manage and care for Country for millennia. It is a powerful element that enables life to regenerate and flourish.

Exhibiting artists at Pine Rivers Art Gallery are Susan Cook, Lee Doherty, Alan Parsons and Lauren Rogers.
