Connecting to Place: Clay workshop with Anna Turnbull

Anna Turnbull

Join artist and ceramist Anna Turnbull on an immersive journey to investigate the landscape that surrounds us. Explore stamp and mark marking techniques to create unique ceramic tiles.

The workshop will begin with a brief artist talk followed by a guided 20-minute walk around the gallery. Once back at the gallery, participants will be guided in creating a clay artwork inspired by the local landscapes.

The clay tiles will be taken by the artist to be fired in the kiln and be available for collection from the gallery after the workshop.

Anna Turnbull is an emerging ceramic and mixed media artist. Anna’s practice is multidisciplinary and consists of ceramics, drawing, painting and textiles. Anna also teaches ceramic art and studio pottery to both adults and children in her studio in Moreton Bay.

“Anna’s practice encapsulates her experience of the natural and built up environments through creative inquiry. This is carried out with the intention of processing and decanting her collected experiences and ideas, generated from exploring the locations and spaces around her and generating a sense of place through walking.”
