Clothes, jewellery, make-up, tattoos - all these items can reveal much about a person. Sometimes the private processes of adorning can hold more power than the adornment itself. In Adorning, artists Adam Anderson, Deborah Eddy and Sancintya Mohini Simpson explore the process of adornment through contemporary video works. They encourage us to consider how identity is threaded with the adornments we choose. Their performances - either as themselves or assumed characters - unsettle the traditional processes of adornment. These acts are no longer private, as we witness moments that are alternately amusing, enthralling and poignant.
Adorning has been developed by Moreton Bay Regional Council to partner with Caboolture Regional Art Gallery’s summer exhibition Adorn.
