Platypus Month guided walk at Kumbartcho Sanctuary

2 Aug 2024 | 08:00 AM - 09:30 AM

A platypus swimming in a freshwater body.

Did you want to spot a platypus in its natural environment? Join us at Kumbartcho Sanctuary for the chance to see this illusive critter.

During the walk we will chat all things platypus and help you identify Australian fauna and flora along the way. Platypuses live in freshwater creeks and rivers, from tropical North Queensland to the cold depths of Tasmania. Their feed consists of insect larvae, yabbies, small fish, and worms. These animals are semiaquatic which means they rely on freshwater systems and their banks for its survival.

Learn more facts and why it is important to look after our waterways for platypus and other native wildlife on this guided walk.
