Type of roles at Council

Council is continuously evolving, creating opportunities for growth and development. We have more than 1900 team members in over 80 professions including administration officers, nurses, lawyers, accountants, mechanics, town planners, environmental planners, structural engineers and project managers to name just a few. 

Regardless of their role every one of our team members play a pivotal role in Council and serving our community. 

University Student

As a university student working with Council, you will be given the opportunity to put theory into practice by working alongside industry professionals and will gain valuable experience in areas relevant to your study. 

University students will join our team for a few years whilst they studying, work part time hours around their studies and in area of our organisation that aligns with their degree. In 2021, we placed over 35 students into our university student roles.

Project Engineer

Project engineers act as a point of contact for project and construction management matters, manage the delivery of infrastructure projects and coordinating design projects. Other key tasks of this role is liaising with internal and external parties such as providers, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders, undertaking engineering assessments, inspections and investigations throughout the contract period and reporting on project and construction issues. 

Museum and Gallery Assistant

Museum and gallery assistants oversee routine venue operations, including volunteer management, facility presentation and the delivery of public programs. You will also need to promote Council’s galleries and museums as key cultural facilities and provide positive visitor experiences through a sound knowledge of exhibitions, programs, collections, resources and procedures. 

Labourer Operations

We have opportunities for labourers across a number of exciting areas within our organisation. Our labourers work together as team to help our region continue to grow and stay beautiful. You’ll find our labourers in our Roads and Drains, Parks and Gardens, Parks Infrastructure, Natural Areas or Trees teams in one of many locations within our region.

Planner

Planners assist with the assessment of a range of development applications in accordance with statutory requirements and the provisions of Council’s corporate documents, planning schemes, policies and procedures. You will contribute to the review of the activities, business processes, procedures and policies of the development planning and strategic planning teams to ensure relevance, currency and timely best practice outcomes and customer service are achieved.

Safety Business Partner

Sitting within our People, Culture & Safety Team, our Safety business partners collaborate with our organisation to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of a proactive safety culture across Council. Their role is to promote the safety and wellbeing of all team members through workplace health and safety (WHS) policy, procedures, training and development and continuous improvement practices.

Centre Services Attendant

Our Centre services attendants have a supporting role at Council’s various venues, including MSEC, Caboolture Hub and QSEC. They are required to be a point of contact for the venue front of house as well as supporting planning and implementing a variety of events and activities. They also assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up rooms for hirers, looking after catering and cleaning needs and ensuring the presentation of the venue is of the highest standard. They engage in reception duties, offering exceptional customer service to visiting patrons along with performing administration tasks including operating our ticketing system for ticket sales and ticket collection, cash handling, processing bond refunds and generating reports.

Waste Facilities Officer

The Waste Services Department is dedicated to waste diversion strategies and ensuring our facilities are providing the best outcomes for our community. Waste Services delivers a wide range of waste management activities, including kerbside and on-demand bulky waste and recycling collections, operation of three major waste management facilities with landfills, two Treasure Markets and eight waste transfer stations.

Our team contribute to a range of exciting and interesting initiatives across sustainable waste management and can make a real difference to the environment and the community.

Tradesperson Arborist

Moreton Bay region has some of Queensland’s best natural landscapes, gardens and parks and our arborists get to take it all on - the Arboricultural services that is. Our arborists get to work with a great crew and enjoy variety in their work including project delivery, tree assessments and making recommendations based on tree health as well as risks and proposed maintenance. They work at heights, provide technical advise and guidance within their teams.

Graphic Designer

As a Graphic Designer within the Media and Communications team you will work with internal stakeholders to effectively determine and prepare design solutions to meet the graphic design needs of customers across Council. You will be a key source of advice on a broad suite of printed and online marketing collateral, ensuring style guidelines are adhered to, requests are managed professionally, and timeframes are met.
