Queensland restrictions update - 8 October 2021

From 4:00 PM AEST Friday 8 October 2021, Moreton Bay Region will ease to Stage 3 restrictions.

Movement and gatherings

  • Up to 100 people can gather in homes. No limit for people gathering in public spaces.
  • Indoor funerals and wedding ceremonies: One person per two square metres or 200 people or 100 percent allocated seated and ticketed capacity (whichever is the greater).
    • All wedding guests can dance (indoors and outdoors) subject to the one person per two square metres rule.
  • Indoor premises: One person per two square metres or 100 percent allocated seated and ticketed capacity (e.g. restaurants, cafés, pubs, clubs, museums, art galleries, places of worship and convention centres) with the COVID Safe Checklist.
    • Eating or drinking while standing allowed.
    • One person per two square metres for short-term accommodation (including hostels, B&Bs and short-term rentals) with the COVID Safe Checklist. Density requirements do not apply in sleeping areas.
    • One person per two square metres at indoor play areas with the COVID Safe Checklist.
  • Self-service food: No restrictions. 

Stadiums and indoor and outdoor events

  • 100 percent allocated seated and ticketed for stadiums
    • Patrons must wear a mask at all times when standing, moving around, and when entering and exiting. (Stadiums: for SEQ and North Queensland Stadium only).
  • 100 percent allocated seated and ticketed capacity for indoor events or one person per two square metres indoors.
  • No restrictions on outdoor events, however you are encouraged to wear a mask when you are unable to physically distance.
  • Ticketed venues: 100 percent capacity with allocated seating (e.g. theatre, live music, cinemas, indoor sports, universities and other higher education institutions).
  • Community sport: No restrictions. 

Face Masks

You must carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave home, unless you have a lawful reason not to.

  • Public Transport and ride share: must wear a mask including while waiting for the transport in a public space such as a bus stop, taxi rank or train station.
  • Outdoors: you must wear a mask when unable to stay 1.5m apart from people who are not part of your household.
  • Indoors: you must wear a mask in indoor spaces (including workplaces, but not your own home) unless it is unsafe or you can stay 1.5 metre apart from other people. This includes cafes, restaurants, pubs etc. unless eating or drinking, seated or standing.
  • Schools: masks must be worn by teachers and staff (all schools), plus students in high school.

Given this announcement, Council’s services and/or facilities impacts have been updated. Council facilities are available for use within government guidelines. All patrons must check in using the Check In Qld App where required. Please approach a venue/facility staff member if assistance is required.

Current service impacts

Service / facility Impact
Customer Service centres
  • Caboolture, Redcliffe and Strathpine Customer Service centres are OPEN during normal business hours. 
  • You must wear a face mask as per the Queensland Health Direction.
  • Council's Call Centre continues to operate.
Halls and community centres
  • Council community halls are accepting bookings in accordance with current Queensland Health Public Health COVID-19 directives.
  • To ensure compliance with State Government directives, all bookings will need to comply with the MBRC Community facilities COVID-19 protocols as well as the conditions of hire.
  • Activities in community halls fall under the Industry Framework for COVID Safe Events.
  • You must wear a face mask as per the Queensland Health direction.
  • Private gatherings will be limited to 100 people.
  • Weddings and funerals are restricted to one person per two square metres or 200 people or 100 percent allocated seated and ticketed capacity. All wedding guests can dance (indoors and outdoors) subject to the one person per two square metres rule.
  • Eating or drinking while standing allowed.
  • Other venue restrictions apply based on size of venue. View hall capacities.
  • Community sport: no restrictions
Waste facilities
  • Waste facilities and transfer stations are OPEN to ALL members of the public as per the normal days of operation.
  • If you cannot physically distance 1.5 metres, you must wear a face mask as per Queensland Health Direction.
Treasure markets - Dakabin and Caboolture
  • Dakabin and Caboolture treasure markets are OPEN during normal business operating hours.
  • Maximum 30 people. One out, one in.
  • Maximum 10 items per shopping period.
  • You must wear a face mask as per the Queensland Health Direction 
Swap shops - Dayboro, Mt Nebo and Samford
  • Dayboro, Mt Nebo and Samford swap shops are OPEN during normal business operating hours.
  • Maximum one person at a time.
  • People must wear a face mask at all times, as per Queensland Health Direction.
Pound Operations
  • Pound operations have returned to normal and are OPEN during normal business operating hours.
  • Only 10 people are able to enter the building at a time to complete transactions.
    • Council Pound and Animal Management - three people at any one time.
    • RSPCA Shop and Animal Adoptions - seven people at any one time.
  • You must wear a face mask as per the Queensland Health Direction
